May

  • 10:00am - 12:30pm

Colour and weave is a technique used to bring colour and pattern to your weaving. It can be done well in plain weave and therefore is perfect for beginner weavers.

An add on to the beginner's weaving workshop. Learn how to weave simple patterns using two colours in both the warp and weft.

Please bring your simple board loom, bodkin, darning needle, fork beater and card strip with you (from the Beginner’s workshop), as well as some Chunk, Aran or DK yarn to weave with.

JUNE

  • 10:00am - 12:00pm

A class for beginners, you will learn to weave a small ‘mug mat’ from leftover yarn. You will start with the basics - from setting up the loom, beginning weaving, finishing ends and joining in new yarn. You will weave in a plain weave, with opportunities to explore simple patterns through colour. Instructions for how to finish the top and bottom edge of the mat will be included for when it is ready to be removed from the loom.

The class price includes a simple wooden loom, a wooden fork beater and a bodkin.

Please bring a small quantity of DK, Aran or Chunky leftover yarn with you.

  • 10:00am - 12:30pm

Twill weaves are a great stepping stone for weavers interested in learning more about drafting and how threads can interact on the loom to create a pattern. Ideally, you should know how to do a plain weave for this class (have a look at our class for beginners)

An add on to the Beginner's Weaving workshop. Learn how to weave simple patterns using a twill sequence.

Please bring your simple board loom, bodkin, darning needle, fork beater and card strip with you (from the Beginner’s workshop), as well as some Chunk, Aran or DK yarn to weave with.
